‘Trick ‘r Treat’ is on it’s way
As many of you know, one of my favorite horror films of the decade ‘Trick ‘r Treat’ has been on the shelf for a few years, and has gotten almost non-stop praise from reviewers across the country. Well, it seems that the WB finally saw the light, and decided to give the horror fans what they really want. Will this film be your new annual Halloween flick? I know it will be mine. By the Power of “Grayskull”
A writer has been attached to the latest He-Man adaptation to be titled “GRAYSKULL”. Warner Bros. and Silver Pictures have hired up and coming writer Evan Daugherty and it will be directed by John Stevenson (”Kung Fu Panda”).
The Hollywood Reporter describes Warner Bros. take on this latest adaptation:
A gritty fantasy and reimagines Adam as a soldier who sets off to find his destiny, happening upon the magical world of Eternia. There, Skeletor has raised a technological army and is bent on eradicating magic.
Now it sounds like this is going to be a big budget action spin through the world of Eternia for Mattel’s “Masters of the Universe” line. Prince Adam, a.k.a. He-Man better be shouting the line; “By the power of Grayskull — I have the power.” The last film adaptation featured Dolph Lundgren in the role of “He-Man”. Do you think they will stay more true to the He-Man storyline this time out?

Alien Raiders (2008) – DVD Review
Alien Raiders is a pretty damned good sci-fi/horror flick that suffers from a terrible name that not only sounds like a third grader wrote it, but it gives away what the film’s about before you even hit play. I mean, it’s not like the audience wouldn’t realize what’s going on within ten minutes, but still…jeez Warner Bros. Anyway, Alien Raiders is what you’d get if Terminal Invasion had a bigger budget, a better script and took place in a supermarket instead of an air terminal…and, that’s a good thing.

Warner Bros. puts the breaks on all DC projects.
If you don’t know what DC is….DC is DC comics, whose roster includes – Superman, Batman, The Green Lantern, The Flash, and Wonder Woman, to name a few. Warner Bros. has put all of DC’s projects on hold for the time being. And, yes kids…this will delay the eventual sequel for The Dark Knight….
Don’t Expect To See Watchmen Anytime Soon.
U.S. District Court Judge Gary Allen Feess has found last week that Fox owns the distribution rights to “Watchmen” and Fox said they intend to delay the release of this movie until a settlement is reached. Warner Bros, on the other hand, said there will be no settlement. Read more for the details.
‘Twilight Zone’ for ‘Lake Mungo’ Director
Rumor has it that Joel Anderson, director of ‘Lake Mungo’, is in negotiations to direct WB’s next installment of ‘The Twilight Zone’. I guess this guy’s film is pretty damned good. Read on for some more info, and more remake news.
“The Box” Gets Pushed Back
Richard Kelly’s lastest feature, “THE BOX”, starring Cameron Diaz and James Marsden, is going to be delayed in 2009. Warner Brothers is giving it a big push back in the calendar set to hit the screen in November.
‘Half Blood Prince’ Trailer
This summer(was supposed to be out NOW DAMMIT, but WB moved it back), ‘Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince’ will hit theaters. This is the sixth installment in the series, and will be the lead up to the final installment, ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’, which will be split into two films.

This could be incredible. Test screenings usually lead to releases. Releases lead to happiness. And, horror fans getting what they’ve been waiting for is just an overall good thing. ‘Forbidden Planet’ home of ‘Changeling’ Writer
J. Michael Straczynski is set to write the remake of the sci fi classic ‘Forbidden Planet’ for Warner Bros. The rights have been jumping all over the place and it seems to have found it’s home with the WB. The original is such an amazing film, I’m really having my doubts that this will even capture part of the essence from the original. But, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t pumped to see what they do with Robbie the Robot in the newer version. Read on for more info.
Official trailer for ‘Watchmen’
Here is the trailer for one of the most anticipated comic book movies for next year. Watchmen is a DC limited comic series, and is set in an alternate 1985 where superheroes are apart of the social fabric, and the U.S. is on the brink of nuclear war with the Soviet Union. When one of the prominent U.S. “superheroes” is murdered, a group of retired superheroes band together and form the Watchmen.

WB Bringing on the Next Franchise Spy Flick?
You know how there’s that kick-ass spy series, James Bond? Have you heard of that trilogy (soon to be expanded upon) featuring a dude named Bourne? Well, grab a rolled up magazine and stir that martini some more, because Warner Bros. has just picked up a still unreleased spy novel to be turned into their next big feature film. What’s the story? What’s the film about? Who’s going to be in it? Who’s directing? What the hell is going on? Bust out the Aston Martin and read on for the news.
Warner Bros. ‘Entering Hades’
Warner Bros. is all about snatching up properties as of late. The newest one being ‘Entering Hades’ based on a novel by John Leake. If the names not enough to draw your attention the premise will, which you’ll read about after the break. For now, let’s consider that WB has realized the potential of all things dark after the success of the bleak Dark Knight. Let’s hope they don’t go pulling back again, because this film sounds like it needs to fall into the Se7en category to really work.
‘Headshot’ to Warner Bros.
No, what we’re all hoping isn’t going to happen. They’re not getting smart and releasing ‘Trick r’ Treat. Oh, wait. You didn’t care? Oops. Just my wishful thinking taking over. Anyway, Warner Bros. (like many other big time studios) are going to suck the comic world dry as they picked up, yet another, set of rights to a graphic novel. Hopefully they can take a step from their Dark Knight release and give this one some love as well. Read on for more info.
Trick ‘r Treat (2008)
I’ve just had a theatrical experience, and I don’t really know how to put this down properly, so bear with me as I free form my thoughts on the film that I just witnessed. I just got home from the opening night of the LA Screamfest, and what an opening it was. Trick ‘r Treat was fantastic, and I need to get this out of the way right now. Warner Bros. is shooting themselves in the foot for not releasing this film. What they’re shelving it for makes absolutely no sense to me. This is what horror fans have been waiting for (unless you’re a Saw/Rob Zombie fan in which case you’re not allowed to enjoy quality films). Writer/Director Michael Dougherty has something very special here, and he manages to do something that almost no horror films in recent memory have managed. He mixes suspense, action, gore, terror and comedy seamlessly without tipping too far in one direction. Trick ‘r Treat is the film we, as horror fans, have been waiting for. And, we’re going to keep on waiting.
