Trailer For The Box

The trailer for Richard Kelly’s (Donnie Darko) The Box has been released and it looks great. Based on a short story by horror master Richard Matheson (if you haven’t read I Am Legend and consider yourself a horror fan punch yourself in the face immediately) and starring Cameron Diaz and James Marsden it is slated to hit theaters on 10/30.

The new releases section this week is pretty stacked but I am most excited for Outlander. It has been described as Predator meets Beowulf. It stars Jesus as an alien who crash lands to Earth during the time of the Vikings while hunting another alien that destroyed his planet. How can you not want to see this?
4 Million Copies Downloaded…

That’s right. Fox is claiming that a massive amount of downloads took place of their latest blockbuster, Wolverine. Read on for details.

A movie I am incredibly excited for is Justin Evan’s feature debut, A Lonely Place For Dying. It tells the story of a KGB double agent and a CIA agent hunting each other in an abandoned Mexican prison in 1972. Read more for the details and the reel.
‘Coraline’ Full Trailer

So, I was wandering around the interwebz and I found this little diddy on BD’s front page. Seems that director, Henry Selick (Nightmare Before Christmas, James and the Giant Peach) has another story up his sleeve. And, this one is looking like a pretty dark child’s tale, if the trailer is any indication of the film. Read on for the synopsis and the trailer.
George Clooney Is For The Birds

At this point this is only rumor but quite a few places are reporting the George Clooney is in talks to star in Platinum Dunes upcoming remake of Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds. Metro.co.UK spoke to Rod Taylor, star of the original movie, who said Clooney was the frontrunner.
Clint’s Last Time In The Drivers Seat?

“Disgruntled Korean War vet Walt Kowalski (Eastwood) sets out to reform his neighbor, a young Hmong teenager, who tried to steal Kowalski’s prized possession: his 1972 Gran Torino.”
‘Let the Right One in’ Trailer

For those of you that don’t know a little Swedish film is making it’s rounds, and has already been picked up for a remake here in the US (as usual). On IMDB they’re giving it a 2010 release date, but we all know how reliable that site is. The red band trailer went up yesterday, and I figured you folks would be interested to check it out as well as learn a little bit about the story. Read on.
Jim Carrey to star in ‘A Christmas Carol’

Here is something I am personally excited about. Robert Zemekis has written a script for the Charles Dickens holiday classic “A Christmas Carol”. What makes me even happier is that Jim Carrey will play Ebenezer Scrooge. This will be a Walt Disney vehicle(which I do not mind at all) and will have a stellar supporting cast. Read on for more.
‘The Devil’s Chair’ Official Trailer

Everyone loves a good trailer. Heck, they’re meant to suck the audience into dropping their hard-earned money (over here it’s between $11.50 and $15 a ticket!) on whatever that may be. Well ‘The Devil’s Chair’ does an excellent job of grabbing the viewers attention with a rather slick trailer. Read on for the trailer and a synopsis.
Cage Joins ‘Season of the Witch’

OK. I just spent ten minutes over at IMDB to make sure this wasn’t a remake. It’s not. We can all breathe a sigh of relief. Oh, wait. No we can’t. Nicholas Cage is in it. A sidenote, whenever I’m feeling down, I watch the clips of Nicholas Cage from the ‘Wicker Man’ remake, and my day is instantly better. Try it. Ah, now I feel ready to start the week. Anyway, Cage has signed on to join the cast of the upcoming ‘Season of the Witch’. Feel like learning more about the next Cage-fest? I know you do. Read on.
Exploitation Remake Renamed

Yes, that’s really random, but the whole article title wouldn’t have fit so I decided to be vague. On to the news, shall we? Who Can Kill a Child? is an exploitation film from the 70’s, and our very own Morbid wrote up an excellent review for the film. Well, like any decent film (yes, I still need to see it, it has been moved up on my queue, Morbid) it’s getting the royale treatment of an American remake. Yup, even a film as depraved and twisted as Who Can Kill a Child? is being remade. Read on for more info.
‘A Jealous Ghost’ to be Helmed by Lopez-Gallego

So, when one reads about a film entitled ‘A Jealous Ghost’, one would either think that they’re about to see another romantic film starring Demi Moore, or that there could be an actual chilling tale underneath the guise of a generic name. Well, hoping for the latter, I read on into the news article, only to almost stop reading a sentence in. Read on for why you should see it, but first, read on for someone involved that may turn off anyone with an inkling of decent acting.
