Cut (2001)

We’ve all made mistakes. My mistake for the day was watching Cut. Yes, I know. It’s a slasher flick, so of course it probably won’t be good, but the problem was this one almost worked, which made it all the more infuriating. It played on the idea of a slasher movie being haunted by someone that doesn’t want the film being made. The problem with that is…we’ve all seen it before (and, by we. I mean horror fans that tend to watch whatever’s being thrown our way).

Re-Cycle (2006) – DVD Review

Certain films do not come fast enough to the US shores, and when they do, we get them in the form of crappy remakes. Somehow Re-Cycle slipped through the cracks, and for this I’m thankful. Actually, I’d heard about this film awhile ago and imported a copy several months ago, and have watched it several times. Finally, Image has released the film in a region 1 format so all of us can finally enjoy what I consider the best Pang Bros. film since The Eye. Re-Cycle deserves all the hype it gets, and is one of the only Horror/Fantasy films that actually works. The Pang Bros. have put together a beautiful film while crafting an excellent story.

THE TINGLER On Halloween

The Silent Movie theatre had a TINGLER Party to celebrate the best holiday there is, Halloween. The Tingler is a classic William Castle film from 1959 starring the ever awesome Vincent Price. Price is Dr. Warren Chapin, a doctor who has discovered, The Tingler. You see whenever anyone is scared the Tingler parasite forms on their back crushing the spine and the only way to stop it is by screaming! Ahhhhhhh!
Silent Rage (1982)

“The king of martial arts versus a bionic killing machine!”
“In the hospital of a small town, three doctors experiment on a man called John Kirby. As a result, John becomes a mute maniacal murderer with the ability to heal automatically every time he gets injured, no matter how bad it is. When he starts killing everyone he crosses, the town’s sheriff goes after him; but how can he stop someone who can’t die, or even get hurt?”

October 31, 2008 by Allen D

It’s that time of year again!!! Halloween is almost here and for a lot of people, that means it is time to watch some blood spattering, brain eating, and decapitating horror. This time of year is great because all of the cable networks are playing horror movies. While some are unedited(hooray!) some have all the blood and tits taken out(Boooo!). Now, the networks do play some things of merit, but they play a lot of crap too. Here at Screamin’ Demon, we have made your Halloween movie viewing simple. Just click on the link below and you will know what to watch….and what to avoid.
Lucio Fulci Triple Feature In L.A.

The Silent Movie Theatre is screening three Lucio Fulci movies tonight! The gore begins with Zombie, Gates of Hell, and The Beyond.
A Werewolf Movie By Ridley Scott?

According to Bloody-Disgusting.com, Ridley Scott (Alien, Blade Runner, Gladiator) has purchased a werewolf script from Ian Jeffers (Death Sentence, Castlevania).
Sam Raimi to return to the horror genre

Sam Raimi will once again direct a horror movie. That’s right, Raimi is done with ‘Spidey’, for right now anyway. I wish I were about to tell you that he is about to begin ‘Evil Dead 4′ but unfortunately, he is not. Instead Raimi will direct ‘Drag Me to Hell’. Please read on for more info.
‘Maneater’ Consumes Cast

Some news broke earlier today about an upcoming horror-thriller entitled ‘Maneater’. With a cast like Dean Cain, Conrad Janis, Stephen Lunsford and Walter Phelan I see this film, either rounding out the Sunday night SciFi channel circuit or maybe, if its lucky, filling up space on the shelves of Blockbuster, surrounded by Dr. Giggles and Man-Thing. Let’s see if this sounds any better…
Alien (1979)

Imagine, if you will, the vast emptiness of space, the echoing corridors of nothingness, lit only by the countless stars thousands of miles away dotting the black backdrop. Now, imagine a massive ship sliding through the abyss of space, traveling through galaxies to a destination unknown. Its boxy features and immense volume seem miniscule in the greater scheme of the vast, unformed territory. Travel inside the ship, and move through its rough designs and simplistic layout. The silence inside the space ship is only matched by the stillness on the outside of the ship’s massive walls. All of this is broken by the operating of the ship’s computer system as it flickers to life, an operating system showing brightly off the glass mask of a helmet sitting in the captain’s seat. You’ve just experienced the opening of Alien, probably one of the best films ever made.

Frontiere(s) (2007)

Much like the J-horror boom a few years back, it seems like France is the new hotspot for kick-ass horror films. Films such as Haute Tension, Them, and Inside take extreme, harrowing horror to a whole new level, and I personally loved all of them (Them to a lesser extent than the other two though). So it was with much anticipation that I awaited the release of Xavier Gens Frontiere(s), and that anticipation only grew larger when After Dark Films postponed the films October release due to not being able to garner an R rating from the MPAA. This baby couldn’t be compromised, and they wanted to release it in its full, uncut glory. Clearly, this must mean it’s just as effective and in-your-face as its French horror brethren, right? Well, just like we found out with J-horror, they unfortunately can’t all be winners.
