Here is the R-Rated first three minutes of the new horror film, Mirrors.

Juicy.

Directed and written by Alexandre Aja (High tension, The Hills Have Eyes), the man many (me) call the savior of modern horror. I have high hopes for this film. Mirrors stars Kiefer Sutherland, a man whose family is being terrorized by an evil force who uses mirrors as a gateway into our world. Check out the Red Band trailer after the jump:

Taking of Pelham One Two Three on screamindemon.com

Browsing the news this morning, I saw an article over at Slashfilm.com in which they reported that Hulu.com is streaming The Taking of Pelham One Two Three. the 1974 film is about a New York subway being hijacked by armed men for ransom. If you have never seen it, I highly suggest you do as it is a grimy crime thriller that is criminally overlooked. It stars Walter Matthau and Robert Shaw and was directed by Joseph Sargent, the man who also gave us Jaws: The Revenge…one of the worst movies ever made…but don’t let that sway you from checking this film out. Especially with a remake coming out starring Denzel Washington and John Travolta. Barf.

Anyway, check out the film over at Hulu and click the image above for one fucking awesome movie poster.

I’m a Bastard

No, not because I paid to sit through Cabin Fever, but because Quentin Tarantino has him on board to play Sgt. Donnie Donowitz, a Nazi hunter who weilds a baseball bat in Tarantino’s upcoming war film, Inglorious Bastards. The film, which begins production this October in Europe for the Weinstein Co. and Universal Pictures, details a group of prisoners-turned-soldiers who fight a group of Nazis in Nazi-occupied France.

Triumph the Insult Comic Dog made and appearance at the 2008 Comic-Con for an episode of Late Night With Conan O’Brien. Not that it is too hard to do, but he roamed the floor cracking jokes at the attendees expense. As usual, it’s pretty funny…I especially liked the King Of The Internet Predators crack.

He was also a member of the two-hour 2008 Comic Con panel to promote the TV Funhouse DVD. Check out the video after the jump in which he introduces the panel members as well as roasts the crowd..

Scared Straight on screamindemon.com

I fucking suck!

Nicholas Cage is in final negotiations to star in John Carpenter’s next film, Scared Straight. The film is about a group of school kids involved in the Scared Straight program, a program that has delinquent teens spend a little time in actual prisons in hopes of steering their life in a different direction after seeing what prison life is really like. In the film, a riot breaks out and a teen is taken hostage. Nicholas Cage is set to play an inmate serving a life sentence who attempts to help the teen…and let me guess…succeeds and receives a pardon from a crime the audience learns he didn’t actually commit. It was in fact, committed by another man in the prison who Cage will have a showdown with and win…or some dumb shit like that.

Beowulf on screamindemon.com

After creeping me out with the dead-eyed characters of Polar Express, Robert Zemeckis takes another stab at a film populated entirely by CGI. This time, he tackles the Old English epic poem, Beowulf. While the film does contain fair amount of the source material, writers Neil Gaiman and Roger Avary made some changes to get it to the big screen. Paramount released the Blu-Ray today, so let’s check out the trailer and then after the jump, check out my review of Beowulf.

Lost Boys: The Tribe

Well, as much as they tried, the sequel to Joel Schumacher’s 1987 hit, The Lost Boys, did not make it into theaters but ended up going direct to DVD. Not a big shocker to anyone, I’m sure, but I finally got a chance to watch the film. Check out the trailer and then after the jump, check out my thoughts on Lost Boys: The Tribe, a film that really didn’t warrant as many words as I gave it.

A couple sites are now showing the new Jack Brooks Monster Slayer trailer, and instead of leeching of of them and re-hosting the video, I am in a lazy mood and I’m just gonna embed JoBlo’s.

I would delve into the plot, but hopefully you just watched the trailer. I’ve been looking forward to this film ever since people started talking about it when it made the festival circuits last year. It looks like a fun film.

The Return of Ellen Ripley?

Ellen Ripley on screamindemon.com

It’s possible. Sigourney Weaver told OK Magazine that she wouldn’t mind bringing her character back to the big screen. With the comeback of other notable film icons such as Rambo, Rocky, Indiana Jones and John McClain, Mrs. Weaver may be looking for something similar.

“I would definitely do another if I had a director like Ridley Scott and we had a good idea,” she says of the classic sci-fi movie franchise. “Ridley is enthusiastic about it.”

This poses a small problem as fans of the Alien series may remember, Ellen Ripley is dead. I have been reading some comments in regards to this latest interview and was reminded that it was Mrs. Weaver herself who asked to have the character killed off so that she would no longer have to play her. Careful what you wish for, I guess.

Even so, I still think they could do this, and give the Alien franchise the movie fans wanted after seeing the sequel. That is, Ripley, Newt, Bishop and Hicks alive and well…well, maybe not so well. I read a post over at CinemaBlend.com about a script that had the gang floating in hyperspace, much like the way Ripley was doing between the first and second film, for 300 years. This would explain the aging. They mention that the final two movies were just dreams being had by Ripley while in suspended animation. I’ve heard worse ideas get made into movies…I mean, anyone go see Hancock? Yeah, like I said.

The Two Corey’s Are Still Douches

I saw this over at slashfilm.com and just had to post it. For those of you who may not be aware, a sequel to Lost Boys is on the way…straight to video…and it brings back both Corey Feldman and Corey Haim reprising their roles in the first film. Anyway, who gives a shit, right? I don’t either. Not a fan of the original, and I loathe both Corey’s. On the obviously scripted A&E reality show, The Two Corey’s, I got some morning amusement watching a supposed “meltdown” of Corey Haim during the filming of the movie. Check it out:

Now, if it is real or scripted makes no difference to me, as Corey Feldman still looks like a goddamn idiot, and Haim just ends up looking douchey no matter if the entire video was one big act or not.

Sherlock Holmes seems to be a character Hollywood is looking towards with two news reports in regards to high profile actors\directors looking to adapt him for the big screen once again. I am a Sherlock Holmes fan and while I do think there is a lot that can be done with this character and his universe, am not overly excited about either of the two upcoming films.

I am just doing my part to promote a movie that I am praying is as good as it seems. The film stars Zach Galifianakis and is deemed a high-concept comedy even though it treads some familiar ground. This is the first film by brothers Jared and Brandon Drake, but the buzz at the film-fests about this film is heavy, and the reviews already coming out from people who have already seen it are glowing.
