De Niro to co-star in Machete?

Apparently so…Along with Michelle Rodriguez(yawn) and Jonah Hill.

Robert De Niro in Robert Rodriguez’s “Machete” pic? Really!?

Bloody Disgusting tells us that De Niro, Michelle Rodriguez (”Fast and Furious”), and portly funnyman Jonah Hill (”Superbad”) are being sought out for the Danny Trejo-starring actioner.

De Niro would play a senator, Rodriguez would play a character called Luz, and Hill would be Julio. Trejo, of course, reprises the gun-toting titular role he played in a faux commercial that was spliced between the two “Grindhouse” flicks – “Death Proof” and “Planet Terror”.

The film, to be co-directed by Rodriguez and Ethan Maniquis, starts shooting in just over a fortnight so there should be some official announcements shortly (if not at Comic Con).

Nice….Can’t wait for this to hit.  Surprised De Niro would actually do this, but I am not complaining.
