Wanted is directed by Timur Bekmambetov (Nightwatch/Daywatch) and stars James McAvoy(Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, Last King of Scotland), Agelina Jolie (c’mon, you don’t know who she is?), and Morgan Freeman (worse than not knowing Jolie).  The film is about a normal, everyday accountant that gets himself mixed up with a band of assassins.  He in turn, joins said group and all hell breaks loose.

Rating: ★★★★★★½☆☆☆

This film was about what I expected.  It had plenty of action and cool effects.  Without the violence and effects, this film would fall flat on it’s face.  But, Mr.Tumnus (McAvoy) goes form a weenie to a bit of a bad ass actually.  The part when snaps made me chuckle a bit.  The plot is alright…it makes kind of a odd twist that has been a tad bit over-done, but whatever…As I said, the look and violence make up for the weak points. There was some decent comic relief thrown in that provided a few good ha-ha’s.

McAvoy played his part well, I feel that they casted him correct.  As I said, he did transition well from weenie to kinda bad-ass.  Morgan Freeman was Morgan Freeman, plain and simple.  Now Jolie…any sexy woman could’ve played that role.  I am not a big Jolie fan anyways.  She is mildly attractive…but nothing spectacular (that’s right, I said it…WHAT!!!  If you got a problem with that, then we are hockey fighting [pause] son.)  To be honest, I thought her tattoo’s looked stupid, but that’s just me.

Now to the action…All of the gunfights, car chases, and other fast/violent parts were cool looking as hell.   The effects made the movie.  Watching in Blu Ray helps too.  I loved the car chases, they were a fun time.  The slo-mo bullet kills were rather kickass as well.  My favorite visual scene was during the first action sequence…It has to do with breaking glass, and looked GREAT in Blu Ray.

The storyline and plot were OK…As I said there is a slight twist that is a tad bit overdone, but great visuals overshadow this.  I really got what I was expecting(which honestly wasn’t much).

Overall, it is worth a watch.  I wasn’t going to rent this, but it was a last minute decision and I am glad I did watch it.  This isn’t something I would want to own, but it was worth the 1hr and 50mins of my time.  Going into this expect a popcorn action flick, with some cool violence, a few nice chases, and kick ass visuals….Then you will be good to go!
