The Incredible Hulk (2008)

The Hulk is Bruce Banner, a scientist that had one of his experiments backfire on him, resulting in him turning into a large green monster with incredible size and strength. Banner would only turn into The Hulk by being angered and having his pulse rate heightened. This film is a reboot to the 2003 film Hulk, starring Eric Bana and Jennifer Connelly, and was one of Marvels lowest achievements. For this rebooted version, they have replaced Bana with Edward Norton and Connelly with Liv Tyler. Personally I like Bana and Connelly, but they did take a step up with Norton and Tyler. One question still remains…Will we like Ed Norton when he is angry?

Rating: ★★★★★★★☆☆☆

I will say that I enjoyed this. It was entertaining. Personally, I am not a huge Hulk fan, I don’t dislike him, but he is not one of my favorites. While all of the destruction and mayhem The Hulk brings, is a fun time…..the lack of dialogue got to me after awhile(and I know the Hulk isn’t supposed to talk). The acting it this film took a back seat to the effects and action that is The Hulk. Norton did a good job as Banner and Tyler wasn’t too bad herself. I really enjoyed Tim Roth’s character(especially when he gets kicked…HA!) The effects in this film are kick ass and the film is worth watching for effects alone. The Hulk, although he is clearly CGI, he is still cool looking. I love all the car throwing and people getting tossed around. Also, “Abomination” is a fucking mean bastard.!!! The end fight scene made the movie…if for some reason you get bored with this and want to take it out(I don’t know why you would, but) fast forward to the end and check out the fight scene.

If they are going to do a sequel, this was a good start off to this particular Hulk franchise. There are a few chuckles in this too… Stan Lee’s cameo(he does that in every Marvel flick) and the purple sweat pants both gave me a small laugh.

All in all, this is an entertaining flick that is fun. In my opinion its not on par with Iron Man, X-Men, or the first two Spider-man films, but a good movie none the less. For a reboot film that will sure to have sequels, this film was not lacking in the action department. There will most likely be a sequel or two to this and deservedly so(just keep Norton in the mix). This film is currently available on DVD, but when watching, please take note to watch the end credits…if you skip them, you may miss something. This was a fun time for me…check it out and I am sure it will be fun for you too.

Nothing compared to Lee’s. If they could just edit Abomination into Lee’s work we would have a fantastic movie.
