McAdams joins ‘Sherlock Homes’
Well, if it wasn’t enough the ‘Sherlock Holmes’ is being done up again for the big screen, and had already cast Robert Downy Jr. in the lead role, what else could get my butt in the seat (for a quick review of what this is all about, check out Morbid’s overly insightful post)? Oh, I know. Cast the actress that I find to be one of the hottest women in the world (she’s not a bad actress either), Rachel McAdams. Yup, that’ll work. I’m there. Read on for info detailing the rest of the plans for the upcoming film.
The movie, which will begin shooting next month, takes its cue from a forthcoming comic book that producer Lionel Wigram wrote as a selling tool for a new take on the classic character. The concept sees Holmes as more adventurous and less stuffy than previous screen incarnations and mines more obscure character traits.
Downey will play Holmes while Mark Strong (”RocknRolla”) plays the main villain, Blackwood. Jude Law is portraying Holmes’ colleague Watson.
McAdams plays Holmes’ enigmatic love interest, Irene Adler, a character who appeared in Doyle’s 1891 “A Scandal in Bohemia.” While the character only appeared in that one story, McAdams’ personage would return for any possible sequel.
I’m glad to see that they’re actually trying to take this seriously. The though of having Will Farrel involved at all really made my heart skip a beat. The man needs to stop. Now.
Now, if we can just figure out how to get someone else in there besides Jude Law…(he’s not that bad, he’s just not that great).

Anyway, glad to see they’re getting a good cast going for this thing. Ritchie needs to redeem himself and this has the possibility to do that. Even though McAdams is working as a second-rate Elizabeth Banks right now, she’s great.

She looks extremely plain to me…she does ZERO for my libido. In fact, I thought Cillian Murphy looked prettier than she did in Red Eye
