Disney Picks Up Monster Attack Network

Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Disney has bought the rights to the graphic novel, Monster Attack Network. Published in 2007 and written by Marc Bernardin and Adam Freeman with Nima Sorat handling the artwork, Monster Attack Network is set on a South Pacific Island named Lapauta. This island is consistently attacked by giant monsters that come from the sea. The team in charge of protecting the residents during these attacks, as well as cleaning up the mess afterwards, is the Monster Attack Network.
I am not familiar with the book, so I checked it out on Amazon. The description states:
Marvel at the Pacific island of Lapuatu, perfect in every way… except for the giant monsters. Thrill as Nate Klinger and his daring team of first-responders at the Monster Attack Network expertly deal with the frequent rampaging-beast-related crises. Wonder if the shady American industrialist who comes to the island bearing “gifts” and the mysterious, gorgeous Lapuatuan ex-patriate are up to no good. Enjoy the hair-raising adventures of the noble men and the drop-dead sexy women of the Monster Attack Network!
Interesting premise, I guess. I can definitely see why Disney would pick it up. The Hollywood Reporter states that he sees the film as having a “Men in Black” tone, as a tentpole and having franchise potential.
