Right back atcha Rob.

A few months ago, I was on Amazon and came across a German 3-disc limited edition of Rob Zombie’s Halloween, with both the director’s cut (which I hear is pretty similar to the work print, though I’m no glutton for punishment; I won’t be finding out for myself anytime soon) and theatrical, plus a supplemental disc filled with documentaries and deleted scenes (you know what they say, “If it’s not good enough for Zombie…”). Despite the film (sadly) being considered a hit here in the states, with a $58 million box office take and a $20 million budget, it still didn’t make enough to warrant a box set like that, even with the overseas take factored in. I mean, most of the money Zombieween made was off of people who wanted to just see how bad it was, right? Did people actually like it?

Fangoria reports that Zombie and The Weinstein’s apparently haven’t destroyed their dignity enough and are going to double dip the white trash epic with a 3-disc set, speculated to contain both versions of the film. What’s of real interest here is that the third disc will be a four and a half hour documentary on the film. Can you imagine? Four and a half hours dedicated to what went wrong. Admittingly though, I will say that the last time he made a bloated documentary, it ended up being better than the film it was about. The disc is set to hit store shelves on October 21, along with Feast 2: Sloppy Seconds, a film that will no doubt be the better of the two.
