I decided to try something different for myself.  Blaxploitation.  Now, I had several different people recommending films to me to fill my need for exploitation, but one kept coming up in almost every conversation.  COFFY.  So, I figured I had to check this sucker out.  HOLY POO!  I’m so glad I did.  Pam Grier is both a sex goddess and vigilante at the same time.  The quick synopsis.  Coffy works as a nurse who finds out that her family is being ravaged by drugs and the pushers that deal them.  She sets off to kill the man that ruined her family, but finds out things are bigger then she could have ever expected.  Now, Coffy is on her way up the ladder, searching for a way to end vicious cycle.

Rating:

I’ll be the first to admit when I haven’t seen a film, but I’m still kicking myself for not having checked this puppy out years ago.  Pam is simply stunning, chewing up the scenery and completely dominating every shot that she’s in.  Her outfits only help keep her looking good (until she ends up out of them - which is all the time), and her “I don’t take sh*t from anyone” attitude doesn’t allow you to do anything but root for her as she sets out on a bloody path of vengeance.  I’ll probably get blasted for this, but Coffy made me think a lot of Thriller: A Cruel Picture (Everyone should check this film out).  

The dialogue fit the movie to a T!  Case in point:

Arturo Vitroni: Crawl, n*gger! 

Coffy: [pulls out gun] You want me to crawl, white mother f*cker? 

Arturo Vitroni: What’re you doing? Put that down. 

Coffy: You want to spit on me and make me crawl? I’m gonna piss on your grave tomorrow. 

Or:

Coffy: This is the end of your rotten life, you motherf*ckin’ dope pusher! 

That is some quality sh*t.  Now, if you’re just reading these quotes you probably think that they sound really stupid, or that some child probably wrote it, but when you’re caught up in the film, you can’t help but cheer when these lines are uttered in the most hardass way you’ve ever heard.

If this picture isn’t enough to get you to watch this film, I don’t know what will. 

Overall:  A solid film, that moved at a great pace, had wonderfully over the top acting with dialogue that would make your mom blush, plenty of violence, lots of pointless nudity and an ending that was so satisfying I think I’m having a food coma!
