Onibaba is also one of my favorite films of all time so I cannot wait to check this one out. Not to see if it is better or not, but just because it sounds like a kickass flick.

I certainly thought so. As much as I enjoyed Onibaba, I thought it wasn’t successful as a horror film because it was a bit TOO ambitious in scope. I also found it to be about 10 minutes too long. It is great though, but I found this to be better. I’m sure you’ll find this to be at least AS good.

Unfortunately it isn’t on R1…you can get it from Amazon UK though, as it’s out there from Masters of Cinema, which is like the UK equivalent to Criterion. They have sales from time to time where you could snag it for about $20 US.
