After successful revivals of long dead franchises such as Rocky, Rambo, and Indiana Jones, another character will be risen from the dead. Axel Foley. Variety is reporting that Eddie Murphy is to reprise his role as the Detroit detective in a fourth Beverly Hills Cop installment.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura is set to produce with Brett Ratner currently in talks to direct. Jerry Bruckheimer, the producer of the first three Beverly Hills Cop installments, will not be involved. They are aiming for a 2009 production start and a summer 2010 release.
Not sure how I feel about this one…I mean, I love the first two Beverly Hills Cops. The third one sucked much ass. But this really isn’t a movie franchise that ever had me wanting another sequel to. Lethal Weapon? Maybe. Beverly Hills Cop? I dunno. Murphy has really delivered some tired performances in some real turds over the last 10 years. What do you think? Are you looking forward to this? Does anyone still find Murphy funny?

1. Mark my fucking words, it will be rated PG-13.
2. All of the humor/profanity of the original film(s) will be missing.
3. There will be no Judge Reinhold.
To hell with that. Eddie Murphy lost his balls and subsequently his humor a long time ago. I will be avoiding this like the plague.
