In one of the dumbest sequel Ideas I have heard of lately, IGN UK is reporting that Chris Fischer will be directing the sequel to 2001’s Donnie Darko. The film is called S. Darko and centers around Donnie Darko’s sister, Samantha (Daveigh Chase, reprising her role). 7 years after the events of the first film, Samantha and a friend are on a road trip to Las Vegas when they start having strange visions. Chris Fischer, whose films include such dreck as Nightstalker and Rampage: The Hillside Strangler, states that while there will be no Donnie in the film, there will be meteorites and rabbits. Yay.
Ed Westwick (Son of Rambow), Briana Evigan (Step Up 2) and Justin Chatwin (Dragon Ball) will be starring in the film and as of right now, there is no word on if any of the original cast will be making an appearance. Richard Kelly, the creator of the fist film, will have no involvement. Filming is to begin on May 18th. You will know the release date as the smell of a freshly laid turd grows stronger and stronger. The day it seems as if Dustin Diamond just gave you a Dirty Sanchez is the day you know the film is in your local theater.

But um, no. You do NOT jack with the Darko. Just… no.
I suppose there will be no Jena Malone, either? And probably no “Mad World”?
I’ll end up seeing it, but I am not gonna like it.

I wouldn’t put it past Patrick Swayze or Drew Barrymore making another cameo, though. I mean, what the hell are they up to lately?

Swayze is fighting cancer, I wont pretend thats why he aint working, his last film people knew about was dirty dancing remake like five years ago but I doubt he will make time for this stinker.
Swayze’s character can be used on a good script tho, Barrymore’s I never understood much the point of that character in the movie or think it could do much good now. The parents are the ones they really need to pursue even if just for a cameo and those two aint bussy either…

But it really doesn’t matter who would cameo in this one, as it’s just a dumbass idea to begin with, and there is no talent involved at the moment at all.

I hate the first film, can’t stand the cultish emo fanboys that hug the nuts of the movie, and look forward to the “Matrix Effect” of the sequel bringing the original back down where it belongs.
